Publisher's summary

A misrouted letter, a missing fiancé, and the man next door make for mail-order mayhem.

The post office misrouted Lavina Randall’s letter informing her fiancé she was en route to Idaho. Unbeknownst to her, he has sold his home and headed east in search of her. Now, as she stands in front of his cabin, watching the man she assumes is her fiancé reading a book in lieu of picking her up at the stage stop, her fury grows.

Since the death of his wife in childbirth, Cliff Walters’ entire life revolves around his twin girls. He recently purchased a new home where he can live out his dreams of being a silversmith. They were settling in when a crazed woman kicks in the front door, tosses Cliff out of his bedroom, and threatens bodily injury if he so much as thought about besmirching her virtue.

Lavina’s desire to keep the promises she made to her betrothed began to dissipate. This gentle giant and his scheming girls have her somewhat discombobulated. Cliff’s wish to be a decent human being had all but lost the battle with his desire to keep this saucy southern stranger to himself.

Will Lavina give way to her desires, or will Cliff and the twins be forced to use subterfuge to ensure their future happiness?

Great one

I listened to this one on audio. I loved the title of this book and needed to read it. I really like the premise of this book. The characters were done very well and you feel a connection with them thru out the book. Lavina was written very well. I thought to myself, I want to be her friend. Cliff has had hard times, yet is a wonderful father and a great guy to know. The twins are adorable, mischievous, sassy, and typical siblings. All in all this was a great book to listen to.

A Delightful and Intense Listen!

After making the decision to become a mail-order bride, Lavina arrives at the man’s front door only to discover he has sold his home and moved on. Cue in the ruggedly handsome Cliff and his two adorable yet mischievous daughters looking for a new mom and the fun and romance begins.

The author, Zerry Greenwood, weaves a romantic story around the often-used mail-order bride system that many men and women took advantage of back in the 1800s. Historically accurate, Greenwood builds strong characters with unique situations thus creating not only a romantic connection but a much stronger one out of respect and kindness for one another. The conversations between each character were authentic and rich, moving the story forward. The mix of conniving young girls wanting a mother was moving. A new wife for their dad made this story fun and reflective as we listen to the dad struggle with his wants, his girls, and the appropriate action. While some may find his decisions devious, I found them romantic.

The narrator, Margie Valine was impressive with her rich titillating voice. Her skill injected the right amount of doubt, fear, longing, haughtiness, and desire into each of the characters’ dialogue and personalities. She spoke clearly and with a solid cadence. She enriches the listener’s experience.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy light romance, adventure, and a simple, yet detailed story. A definite light-hearted and delightful listen!

Fun Western Mail Bride Deception

A very clever plot, for a mail order bride story, follow the tale of a Southern miss who travels west only to encounter problems and Deception, but cute, endearing twin girls.
